Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1Ouarzazate – Skoura – Dades Valley – Todra Gorge – Merzouga
We leave Ouarzazate early and head east to the green oasis of Skoura, where you visit the historic kasbah of Amridil. We continue through the Valley of Roses and the Dades Valley, with a photo stop at the rock formations known as the Monkey Fingers, then to the high cliffs of the Todra Gorge. After lunch we cross the desert plains to Merzouga, where you ride a camel into the dunes for the sunset and spend the night in a Berber camp with dinner, music and stars.

Day 2Merzouga – Rissani – Alnif – Draa Valley – Ouarzazate
Watch the sunrise over the dunes and have breakfast at the camp. Ride back to Merzouga by camel or 4x4, then drive back to Ouarzazate through the market town of Rissani, the fossil region of Alnif and the Draa Valley, lined with palm groves and old kasbahs. After a stop in Agdz, you reach Ouarzazate in the early evening.
