Berber Tour from Casablanca – 12 days
Day 1: Casablanca – Marrakech:
Arriving at Casablanca airport you’ll be collected and driven to Marrakech, checking in to your Riad, before exploring explore the Jemaa el fna square at night and the entertainment of the magicians, story tellers, henna makers and fortune tellers. You’ll have the option to eat here. Your Riad is la princesse de desert. Bed and Breakfast. BB. ( Berber Tour from Casablanca – 12 days).
Day 2: Exploring Marrakech:
After breakfast in the Riad, you can start exploring Marrakech “the red city of Morocco”.
Your guide will ensure that you see the most important places of historical and cultural interest, including the Saadien tombs, the Palaces of El Bahia and El Badi and the Ben Youssef Coranique School.
Lunch is at a restaurant near the square, then in the afternoon you’ll visit the gardens at Majorelle, Menara and the Koutoubia tower. Overnight accommodation will be in your Riad. BB. ( Berber Tour from Casablanca – 12 days).
Day 3: Marrakech – Tizi Ntichka Pass – Ait ben haddou Kasbah – Dades Valley:
After your breakfast, we’ll depart for Ouarzazate through the famous Tizi Ntichka pass (2260m), over the High Atlas Mountains, to Ait Ben Haddou village, Morocco’s oldest and most famous Kasbah, built by the last Berber chieftain El Glaoui Ethami in the late 19th century. The Kasbah is recognised as a UNESCO matrimonial historical site, now a house of many Glaoui family members. Lunch is by the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. In the afternoon we’ll continue on to the Dades Valley and the small town of Kalaa M’gouna, famous for its roses and rose products…
Day 4: Dades Gorge – Todra Gorge – Merzouga: 250km.
After breakfast in the hotel, you’ll leave for Merzouga via the Todra Gorge and Rissani. After the town of Tinghir, it’s the Todra Gorge; the narrowest and the highest in the region with panoramic views of the old mud Berber villages overlooking the valley. Lunch is in a restaurant under 200m high red cliff of the gorge. Hundreds of rock climbers come to enjoy their preferred sport here. Continuing your trip to Erfoud and Rissani then through the open black desert to the village Merzouga where you’ll be welcomed with a glass of mint tea before you check in to your Riad, Kasbah hotel Yasmina. Day 5: Merzouga area and the Camel trek:
After breakfast in your hotel, you can start exploring the area. You’ll visit the Gnawa people, originally slaves brought from Sudan, to experience their music and lifestyle. Not far away there’s the lake of Merzouga, with its bird populations. You may also want to visit the nomad wire house where many Berber handicrafts are priced lower than in the big cities. In the afternoon it’s time for your camel ride guided by an experienced camel man where you’ll explore the sand sea of Merzouga. Dinner is in front of the tent where you’ll spend the night (the camp in equipped with flash-toilets and shower). DBB.
Day 6: Merzouga area and the Nomads of the Sahara:
Early in the morning, your camelman will wake you up early in the morning to watch what well may be the best sunrise of your life. Afterwards you’ll camel trek back to your Riad in Merzouga. En-route taking in the unique beauty of the spectacular Erg Chebbi dunes – changing with the light as the day progresses… (DBB).
Day 7: Merzouga – Rissani – Errachidia – Imilchil:
After a luxurious breakfast in the hotel, we’ll travel to Imilchil via the city of Errachidia and Rich. Our first stop will be in Rissani, the foundation of the Alaouit Dynsaty the current ruling family in Morocco, Rissani is an authentic city full of veiled women and hooded men in conversation. Your journey continues to Midelt along the magnificent Ziz Gorges carved through volcanic rock and through the Ziz Valley and the fascinating landscape around the town of Rich… Auberge Tislit by the beautiful lake of Tislit. Day 8: Day Trip: Imilchil area:
Today we’ll start exploring the area with the 4wd and then, if you prefer, walking for about 2 hours until you get to the lake Isli, another beautiful spot in this area. After a picnic lunch by the lake we’ll drive back to the village of Imilchil, an authentic Berber village with a strong culture. Here you’ll visit a Berber family and enjoy Berber hospitality. Overnight accommodation is at Auberge Tislit. DBB.
Day 9: Ifrane – Khenifra – Azrou – Ifrane – Fes: 230km.
After breakfast in your hotel we’ll leave for Fes via Khenifra Azrou and Ifrane. Today you’ll enjoy the beautiful landscape en-route to Azrou and Fes. You’ll stop in Azrou in the Middle Atlas mountains. In the Cedar forest there you’ll have the opportunity to see the Barbarian apes in their natural habitat… Next it’s Fes and your overnight accommodation at Riad el Yacout. Bed and Breakfast. BB.
Day 10: Exploring Fes:
Most of the day will be spent visiting the medina (the old city) and its alleys – including the famous tanneries and the Quaraouine mosque. Your visit includes the Jewish headquarter and the royal palace. After lunch in a typical Moroccan restaurant in the Medina, you’ll visit the Merinid tombs and experience a wonderful panoramic view of the city…
Day 11: Fes – Meknes – Rabat:
After breakfast in your Riad, you’ll travel to Meknes and and Volubilis via the foot hills of the Rif Mounatins… Your first stop will be at Volubilis, the Roman ruins, dating to 25BC.
After lunch, you’ll travel to Rabat, the Capital of Morocco where you will see the Hassan Tower and the Oudaya Kasbah. Overnight accommodation is at Riad Kalaa. BB.
Day 12: transfer to the airport for your departure flight:
After breakfast in you Riad and depending on your your departure time, we will drive you to Casablanca airport for your departure flight.
The tour ends at the airport.
